The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs is the leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. The association embraces the virtues of teaching excellence and emphasizes to students that it is essential to learn how to learn. ACBSP acknowledges the importance of scholarly research and inquiry and believes that such activities facilitate improved teaching. Institutions are strongly encouraged to pursue a reasonable mutually beneficial balance between teaching and research. And further, ACBSP encourages faculty involvement within the contemporary business world to enhance the quality of classroom instruction and to contribute to student learning.

Phi Beta Lambda is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) education association of students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. The Association has four divisions:  (1) FBLA for high school students; (2) FBLA Middle Level for junior high, middle and intermediate school students; (3) PBL for postsecondary students; and (4) And the Professional Alumni Division for business people, educators and parents, who support the goals of the Association.

 

The FBLA-PBL Mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.

Kappa Beta Delta is a national honor society recognizes students in accredited associate degree-granting institutions for their high academic achievement in business programs.
 
This Honor Society was established to encourage and reward scholarship and accomplishment among students of business, management, administration, and other business programs who are pursuing associate degrees in ACBSP-accredited two-year colleges, to encourage and promote personal and professional improvement, and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.

 IAAP – Administrative Professionals Organization

 

The IAAP mission is to be the acknowledged, recognized leader of administrative professionals and to enhance their individual and collective value, image, competence, and influence.   The purpose of IAAP is to provide information, education, and training and to set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective.

 

 

 

 

Lawson State Community College has been a VITA site for more than 15 years (Under the direction of Ms. Alfreda King).  The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country. VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations. Most locations also offer free electronic filing.

The AITA hosts programs and events that receive outstanding response and continue to draw an ever-expanding audience of business leaders. The IT Market Place is a one-stop shopping portal for those in search of IT and affiliated products and services. The AITA provides tremendous networking opportunities for likeminded business people who are on the go and always in search of profitable business opportunities. And finally, the AITA assists Alabama business' by connecting those who need funding with those who have capital.

SREB is an "electronic marketplace" of online courses and programs from the South's colleges and universities. The Electronic Campus was designed to provide learning opportunities from accredited colleges and universities that offered courses and programs that exceed SREB's Principles of Good Practice. By doing this, learners could be assured of the quality and integrity of the courses and programs available in the Electronic Campus, that comparable information would be provided to help learners in making decisions that best met their needs, and that learners could quickly and easily search the large database of course and program offerings.

RealtySouth is our trainer for the Real Estate Classes offered in the Division--both credit and non-credit.  The leadership team of RealtySouth offers more than 50 years experience in an ever-changing industry.  By emphasizing the highest quality of personal service and the best available resources, RealtySouth has attained the dominant position in the metro Birmingham market and serves as a partner to the communities they serve. In addition to selling nearly 50% of the homes in the Birmingham area, the state's number one company provides one-stop shopping through their affiliated mortgage, title insurance, home warranty and homeowners insurance companies.
 

 

LaserGrade, with secure computer-based testing centers across the United States and Canada, is the largest United States owned and operated network in North America.  LaserGrade offers proctored computer-based test administration for occupational and professional licensure and certification, IT certification and the Federal Aviation Administration using its own secure network and software. 

At LaserGrade, no customer is too small or too big.  LaserGrade delivers exams for small and medium sized state trade certifying bodies like the Washington State Board of Labor and Industries (electricians tests) and many state cosmetology programs.  LaserGrade also delivers examinations for large national licensing programs such as the Federal Aviation Administration.   LaserGrade is one of only two computer-based testing companies authorized by the federal government to administer all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airman Knowledge Tests for commercial airline pilots and mechanics.
