Congratulations goes out to Mr. Charles Gakumo, the winner of the $1000 Magic City Classic Scholarship.  Mr. Gakumo is a student in the Business and Information Technologies Department at Lawson State.  His topic submitted was:  “It Has Been More Than 40 Years Since Integration Changed The Face Of Public Education.  Therefore, Do You Think HBCUs Still Hold A Value In The Community Today And Why?

His major is Business Administration.  Gakumo has a 3.89 GPA, is active in Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), loves skydiving and weightlifting, and volunteers regularly in the community.   He is a recent inductee in Kappa Beta Delta and Phi Theta Kappa.  He is also a Dean's List and President's List student.

Gakumo plans to continue his education at a four-year institution (majoring in Business Administration) after graduating from Lawson State; complete is masters in Business Administration; and become an entrepreneur.
